Session fees

Individual Counselling Session (50 minutes)

£70 per session

Sessions are available:

  • In person in Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria
  • Online across Cumbria and the UK

Payment details will be confirmed when arranging your appointment. Fees are payable prior to or at the time of each session.

How often are sessions

Most clients attend weekly sessions, particularly at the beginning of therapy however this depends on the client and their personal circumstances. Fortnightly sessions are also available. However, frequency can be discussed and reviewed depending on your needs and availability.

Initial contact

Includes a free 15 min chat to allow clients to make sure I am the right therapist for them

Before beginning therapy, we will arrange an initial conversation to discuss your reasons for seeking support and determine whether counselling is appropriate for you. This also gives you the opportunity to ask questions and decide whether you feel comfortable moving forward.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel or rearrange a session, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged at the full session fee.

This policy ensures fairness and protects dedicated time reserved for you.

What happens in the first session?

The first session focuses on understanding what has brought you to therapy, your current concerns and what you hope to gain from counselling. We will also agree on practical arrangements such as confidentiality, boundaries and session structure.

There is no pressure to share everything immediately — therapy moves at your pace.

Are the sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is central to professional counselling practice. As a BACP Registered Counsellor, Kelly Shaw works in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework. There are rare legal or safeguarding circumstances where confidentiality may need to be breached, but this would be discussed openly wherever possible.

More can be read about our industry's confidentiality standards in this downloadable BACP guide - HERE

How many sessions will I need?

There is no fixed number of sessions. Some clients benefit from short-term focused work (6–12 sessions), while others prefer longer-term therapy to explore deeper patterns or ongoing challenges. This will be reviewed regularly to ensure therapy continues to meet your needs.

Is online therapy effective?

Yes. Research indicates that online counselling can be as effective as face-to-face therapy for many common concerns, including anxiety, stress and adjustment difficulties. Online sessions are delivered securely and follow the same professional standards as in-person counselling.

Do I need a GP referral?

No referral is required. You can contact Heydays Therapy directly to arrange an appointment.
